‘It’s Biblical!’, ‘It’s apocalyptic!’
We’re hearing such exclamations increasingly, as the ravages of climate change mount, globally. These exclamations indicate some of us have collected clues, tips and hints from The Bible. And that’s all good, but these are clearly insufficient. I wonder if these people have bothered to open that ‘holy’ Book to flesh-out their comprehension of exactly what it reports of past broad disaster experiences, and especially what it predicts of future ones. Or if they simply treat it as ‘holy’, i.e., separate from anything/everything in their lives. Recall, ‘holy’ means separate or separated.
For about a year after suspicions of a Covid pandemic were reported, readership of this blog figuratively ‘shot-up through the roof,’ reaching a nearly 5-fold monthly increase. I suspect readership across many other Bible prophecy teaching websites also likely shot-up. Then, as ‘medical science stepped-up to the plate, and hit a home run’ with viable vaccines and protection protocols, interest in Biblical prophecies quickly …died down. That’s ‘par for the course’, and may be evidence of no abiding interest in Biblical history, or yet-fulfilled prophecies. Human nature is, as human nature does.
Climate change is predicted to be a long-term, global trend, with significantly different disaster impacts, even within the same country. Insurance companies are reassessing their exposure, and some are ceasing operations in target regions. Governments are seriously strained to support the needs and costs of increasing recovery and rehabilitation efforts. Mounting disasters will only exacerbate already high global migration trends, further straining countries on both ends of migration. Migrant-losing regions and countries must wrestle with the loss of working age cohorts and future tax revenues. Migrant-gaining regions and countries must wrestle with unsustainable inflows that stoke financial, political, social, cultural, housing, and racial problems.
In Greece, which in 2023, is simultaneously battling extreme floods and wildfires, a climate expert agreed the situation ‘…is apocalyptic, but without Noah’s ark!’ He called for greater public sector prevention initiatives. So this expert was somewhat familiar with story of Noah’s ark. But I wonder if he might understand the broader context of this story?? The Lord had extensively warned people about the consequences of their mounting sinfulness. Finally, He selected Noah to build a huge ark to save only himself, his immediate family and representative animals. For several decades, Noah constructed the ark, and warned on-lookers of a coming flood. He warned them both directly by preaching, and also indirectly via the demonstration effect. But peoples’ interests were not piqued …until it began to rain! Recall, this was the first time it had ever rained on the Earth! You know ‘the rest of the story.’
In lieu of another flood, The Lord determined to use four (4) tactics to judge mounting, unrepentant sinfulness across any land. They are: famine, warfare, pestilence and wild beast attacks. He initially shared these tactics with Moses after the exodus, and later with Ezekiel after destruction of Jerusalem by Babylon. Today, global population is at an all-time high, and is growing rapidly, mostly in regions that cannot sustain such growth. People are choosing old, and are aggressively creating new ways and means to sin. I have found no indications in The Bible that The Lord has changed His mind regarding the use of these judgment tactics. Rather, I only see predictions of their intensified use, especially as this current 3rd age of history (the age of Grace) closes, and the short 4th age (the tribulation age) rises on the historical horizon.
What will it take for people to understand,
These are ‘the days of Noah’, the ark craftsman’??
The ark he built floated on waters, above the destruction.
The next ‘ark-type’ will be clouds above Earth, en route to Heaven.
There’s room only for born-again folks, resurrected and alive.
There’ll be no room for folks who, in their lives,
with sinfulness connived…
(unrepentantly).
So if, on ‘this ark-type’, you want to ‘book a ride’,
Make sure with God, through Christ, you have been ‘made alive!’
Hey, on his ark, Noah and family had a ‘round-trip ride’,
But on their return, no one greeted them ‘cause everyone died.
Our ride will be as theirs, but our return we’ll be …‘globally eyed!’
In glowing, angel-like appearance, all sinfulness we’ll chide!
