Friends,
Here's a key question of this age,
That stirs controversies and rage.
Many folks say He was just a man,
Yet He claimed to be in The God clan.
To this question the answer we select,
Shows if we’re in what He calls, the elect.
That’s just the folks He fore-knows will believe,
And who, from Him, eternal life receive.
That’s His Bible message, not mine,
And with it many won’t align.
That’s quite ok with Him, and me, too!
So between us, it’s not an issue.

ReplyDeleteJesus’s claim to be The Messiah is one of the strongest and most profound statements ever made in that time. Not just because He claimed to be God but because the writings of the prophet Isaiah points to Him being so on every account. A book I read multiple times by Nabeel Quireshi titled Seeking Allah Finding Jesus was about a young boy growing up in Virginia Beach who’s father was a highly important person in the Muslim faith. This young man was a student at Old Dominion University and he had a college roommate who was a devout Christian. Nabeel set out to disprove to him that Jesus was God but ended up finding Jesus by accident. This book, along with Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby are two books that helped me find and define my relationship with God as it related to Jesus being God. I’m not sure if I am providing you much intellectual nuggets to gather from this post but I’d be happy to continue the dialogue. God bless
ReplyDelete—Howard, thanks for your insightful comment. I trust you will read/have read all the posts in this eye-opening series. I learned a LOT as I meditated the topics in this assignment.
ReplyDelete—Jesus’ claim to be The Messiah, Son of Father God, was THE most profound statement made …EVER, period. In Isaiah chapter 6, The Lord asked the prophet, ‘Whom shall I send?’ Isaiah’s joyful response was, ‘Here I am! Send me.’ The assignment was to make people’s hearts dull, ears heavy, and eyes shut, lest they ‘understand and be healed’ (delivered) in various ways. His task was simply to preach Truth, including prophecies so incredible that folks would naturally reject all of it. Their rejection allowed time for The Lord’s promised, harsh judgments to come into FULL effect — the fruits of their disbelief! As a man, Jesus preached Truth, and it had the same ‘rejection—>judgment’ effect. Today, that same effect has tightly gripped the whole world! As a result, folks the world over are BLIND to the Truth that The Lord’s ‘judgment heat’ is increasingly being turned up because ‘…they do not regard the work of The Lord, nor consider the operation of His hands.’ (Isaiah 5:12)
—My friend in Pakistan (whose questions inspired this series) said God sent Mohammed to clean up the mess Jesus made! In response, Jesus instructed me to ask her, ‘Which comes first, the counterfeit, or the True?’ Not a word from her since then.
