Adult ABCs (Poem)

Very early in life we learn our ABCs.

Later on we learn about the birds and the bees.

We believe for life these are the basic foundations,

Thus we master and pass through life’s matriculations.

Later on we learn of Adult ABCs,

Ones for which we must pay some very high fees!

Those who pay will in life seem to soar:

Ability, Bank account and Credit score. *

It is upon these as adults we all grow to lean,

Ensuring in our world, as a ‘Success’ we’ll be seen.

But then when at our goals we will have ‘Arrived’,

Many realize of real life, they’ve been deprived!

The landscapes of their lives are thus covered with fissures,

From the high fees they paid, and the resulting pressures.

Yet on they go, masquerading ‘Success Impressions’,

All the while plunging into deepening depressions.

The daily news repeats and unveils their stories’ sad end.

But wait! There is hope, if only our ways we will amend.

If only we will lift our eyes up from our daily grind,

To see God’s escapes from clutches of ABCs that bind.

‘By your Ability, Bank account or Credit score,

I’m not limited’, says God, ‘Believe this in your core.’

Yet we go on clinging to our God-substitutions,

Choosing to believe more in manmade institutions.

What will it take to break this depressing cycle?

Must The Lord always do some awesome miracle?

Must we always hit rock bottom before upward we look?

Just read stories of others’ escapes in His Holy Book.

As you read, by Good News your heart will be seized,

And you’ll learn some brand new Adult ABCs.

If God’s promises you Always Believe and Confess,

You’ll rise above old ABCs ...that often depress.

In your achievements in these areas, did you adhere to, or sacrifice Godly principles, the foundations of His sustainable blessings?   

The Ought in Drought (Poem)

There is so much incredibly great insight,

In God’s modus operandi, tripartite.

If only we would take the time to pray and ponder,

There would be less about which we would need to wonder!

He’s painstakingly given us examples and clues,

And His wisdom in earth He has willingly infused,

About how to quench hell’s fiery darts to us hurled,

And thus enhance quality of life in our world.

His modus operandi, en principe, ¹ 

Is quite simple, yet also very deep.

After centuries of historical examples,

To Jeremiah He made it clear and notable.

Hundreds of examples to us He’s given,

To show us how He rules on Earth from Heaven:

‘In Earth I am, north, south, east and also west,

Exercising Grace, Judgment and Righteousness.’ ²

In response to sin, Grace is His first answer,

Because He’s loving, kind and slow to anger.

When Grace runs out, as it most certainly will,

Then folk must swallow His bitter Judgment pill.

Judgment seems to leave Righteousness in its wake,

As the surviving remnant learns what’s at stake!

But with us humans, Righteousness is short-lived,

As to this remnant sin becomes attractive.

Pondering and reading of His examples,

Here is a Truth that to us He signals:

Because for Judgment, He’s in no great hurry,

He ramps up warnings of His pending fury!

One type of warning is very worthy of note,

The opposite of why Noah built his great boat:

Noah heeded warnings of a coming flood.

Our warning is the drying up of …earth’s blood.

If my meaning is not so conspicuous,

In Earth, water-to-blood is analogous.

Water, often a symbol of The Spirit of Grace,

With mounting sins, droughts have signified

growing dis-Grace.

But even in a drought, God has left us a clue,

And because I care, I will now share it with you!

Nestled in ‘drought’ is the obscure word, ought,

With a connection that’s no longer taught!

God wants us to heed His signal and messages,

To repent of sins and avoid their ravages.

But we’ve taken the word, ought, out of drought, 

Thus we keep drinking from God’s judgment spout.

Since we discovered the science of drought,

We‘re now blind, and our pride has become stout. ³

We are now clueless of drought as God’s ‘EWS’,

His Early Warning System of Grace’s egress.

When we remove ‘ought’ from drought,

we are left with ‘Dr.’

Thus we rely more on the scientific hawker.

With God’s deeper insights put inside a locker,

To get messages to us, He shouts ...LOUDER!!!

So now with this refreshed wisdom and Godly insight,

About drought, let’s get spiritual heads screwed on right!

Let’s put ought back into understanding drought,

And about it’s meaning, let’s dispel all doubt.

In drought, we ought…

          …To ponder, pray and be penitent about sins

          …To seek God earnestly about the state we’re in ⁴

          …To see drought as an EWS of God Who’s patient

          …To know He’s warning us of more pending Judgment

Here’s one more insight for the Biblically astute,

And for you who may decide my advice to refute:

Zechariah reveals even in Christ’s Millennial Reign,

He’ll still judge sinful people and nations by

…withholding rain! ⁵

Beliefs Oxymoronic (Poem)

How many have said ‘In God we trust.

Yep, we trust in Him!’,

Believing throughout all ages to come, 

He’ll take care of them in His great Kingdom, 

But whose weak faith have them now living

…on poverty’s rim?! 

They fail to realize for them, His Kingdom is now,

It always is, and has always been.

It did not start when they entered in.

Thus, they discount God’s promises this life to endow. 

Promises discounted, their faith has been hijacked,

Thus to them, God’s blessings are likely short-circuited.

Reading His Word, then reeking in life, they’re conflicted. 

Then when fears mount, doubts enter in,

and they slide-back.

Oh for faith that’s connected to God’s integrity,

And not so tightly to results discernible.

Faith that just says, ‘God’s Word is indisputable,

And His Grace and love for me abide, infallibly.’

Imagine all the resources that will be required,

To sustain life of the all righteous saints …when we are raised.

Imagine what's required to keep the lake of fire ablaze! ¹

It will only take a Word from God’s Spirit, inspired. 

Throughout all of eternity future to come,

On the brand new Earth He promised long ago to create, 

(Which may be the home of both Heaven and the fiery lake),

His Word will sustain ALL things and be its fulcrum.

Friend, here is the GOOD News for which

I’ll not make you wait:

By time and distance, God’s Words are not limited. 

So if your life is dogged by lack, unmerited,

He’s already spoken Words to make your needs deflate! ²

He releases His faith in His Words spoken,

Then He tells us, with His Words, to do the same! 

His Words, in our heart, then mouth, in Jesus’ Name, 

Brings us to His ‘Abundant Life’ season. ³

But if about this Truth you will remain a cynic,

Believing He’ll support you throughout all eternity, 

But cannot or will not save you now from lack’s tyranny,

Then you‘re imprisoned by ...beliefs oxymoronic!

Stopped In His Tracks (Poem)

There’s an awesome power within both you and me,

One that’s greatly needed in our world today,

But that is often ignored or is used …scarcely.

Many think this power has long been passé.

It is the power to bring all of Heaven to a sudden halt!

Holy angels’ there and on Earth quiet their great wings,

To hear cries of faith that have reached into

Heaven’s blessing vault,

The Throne Room of Heaven from which

God directs all things.

When faith-filled prayers of a soul’s deepest need,

Are dispatched heavenward in Jesus Christ’s Name,

God says to such He will most certainly heed,

With grace-filled answers …by angels’ fiery flame. ¹

Recall the many times in Christ’s earthly ministry,

When folk were suff’ring horrible devilish attacks.

As He listened to hear The Father’s voice, mindfully, ²

Their heavenward released faith stopped Him

...‘cold in His tracks!’

‘Who touched Me??’, ‘Bring him to Me.’,

‘Zacchaeus, from that tree come down!

Roll away the stone! Wash [your eyes]

in the pool of Siloam.’

Such are but a few, very clear incidences, well renown,

When faith stopped Jesus in His tracks to disperse

…Heaven’s shalom.

Just as from Earth radio satellites are ever poised,

Straining to hear from across galaxies

the faintest of sounds,

All of Heaven is perched to hear, and then be overjoyed,

At prayers of sinners to be released from sinful hellhounds.

So here’s my invitation plain and simple to you sent,

I hope you will accept and put it to good use:

Test drive this awesome power that in you is resident.

There is no price to pay, so there is no excuse.

The price of this power that to all mankind is given,

Was paid by the death of Christ ~a couple of days ago. ³

In death, Christ crushed works of satan,

and had His ‘heel bitten.’ ⁴

Raised from death, Christ now lives this to achieve:

His Church to grow.

So if you’ve yet to receive Jesus as Christ and Savior,

Go ahead, test drive this awesome power

in you that’s latent.

If your life you’ve already laid on God’s holy altar,

Grow your faith to be GREAT, then

use your power-filled covenant.

Bring Heaven to a HALT!

Spiritually speaking, this part of the Eden curses targets satan, the leader of angels who revolted in Heaven. In the death of Christ, this curse was fulfilled in that Jesus ‘crushed the head’ or power and works of satan, as evidenced by His resurrection from the dead; and satan metaphorically ‘crushed Christ’s heel’ as Jesus submitted to (tasted) a very temporary, 3-day physical death. More importantly, Christ’s resurrection and The Bible, in general, reveals our physical death is not permanent, but is temporary. All humans who will have ever lived will be resurrected for God to (a) judge our earthly works, and (b) pronounce our eternal heavenly rewards or eternal hellish sentences, depending on our personal decision about Jesus as Christ. A Thing Going On… (Poem)

‘Me and Jesus Christ, we have a thing going on….’ 1

Yep, Jesus Christ and I have a thing going on.

We meet every morning as I approach His Throne.

Through His Grace, there I am welcomed and am

very well received,

All because Him, God’s sin sacrifice,

I embraced and believed.

To Him I belong, and in Him, I am growing strong,

There I worship Him and sing my glorifying song.

He enraptures me in loving delights,

Then He strengthens me with His Word highlights.

As I read, my hopes mount high above problems murky,

And my heart floods with great joy for His Grace and Mercy. 

Then with patience, my faith becomes substance palpable, 

Seeds sown, first spiritual, for blessings physical. ²

When I think time has come for me to be leaving,

I know to each other our hearts will be cleaving.

He says, ‘Son, in my Spirit, by faith walk and live,

Thus you’ll always have My presence …consultative.’

Yep, Jesus Christ and I have a thing going on.

If at this message you may smirk, or maybe yawn,

Ask yourself…

‘Am I fully aware or possibly deceived,

About to whom I have spiritually cleaved?’

The Truth is black-or-white, with no areas gray:

Either to Christ we cleave, or become devils’ prey.

Don’t pay the eternal price to fall for some devilish con,

Embrace Christ, then with Him you, too, will have

…a thing going on. ³

‘Me and Jesus Christ,

we have a thing going on….’

Paxes, God’s Axes (Poem)

God is Love and is also full of Grace. 

He’s also Judge Ultimate as much as He’s Love. 

News of Him today seeks this to erase.

Rest assured, such news is not from Heaven above. 

Despite God’s pleas, ‘Repent and reform!’

Mankind is sinful, thus to us Grace is extended.

When Grace runs out, He sends judgment storms,

By these storms, sinful ways are upended! 

After over a thousand years of loving Grace,

God used a global flood to punish the wicked.

He saved eight remnant souls before Earth was defaced.

Thus, for a while on Earth, man’s sin had been stunted. 

Then eventually, the remnant’s posterity,

Repeated the same exact pattern as others before:

Sin abounds. Grace ends. Judgments are sent, reluctantly.

But God told Noah never again on Earth floods He’d pore!

So let’s take a peek at what He told Ezekiel: ¹

Famines, wild beasts, the sword and pestilences, 

Would be how He executes His judgment schedule,

Targeting persistent sin preferences.

Since then it is on Jesus Christ that God has poured His full wrath, 

Payment for all of our sins - past, present and future.

Yet in our world these henchmen are still at play. You do the math!

As wages, various forms of death, sins still garner!

Pax wars subjugate nations by their militia,

A prideful hegemon that itself is later judged. ²

The first God-ordained pax was Pax Babylonia.

Now is Pax Americana, and by pride it’s smudged. 

Weather and seismic events of major consequences,

Dot all of Earth’s lands with increasing incidence.

Pestilences against which there’re declining defenses.

Beasts with less fear of man, much more than a nuisance.

Of these 4 severe, punishing judgments, my Friend,

One is most active across our world, by far.

There’s no continent, no nation where it hasn’t been.

It is the sword, more commonly known as war.

Today, wars encompass much more than just militia.

Trade, cyber, space, and intellectual property,

Are other spheres in which we hear increasing ‘war mantra’,

Each fought to increase national pangs and poverty.

In the last days, Christ warned of wars and rumors of such,

But He gave no clues of how long ‘last days’ would last!

He causes both wars and peace, The Bible says as much. ³

Reading this, are you surprised, or perhaps aghast??

About paxes, here is a persistent pattern I note:

Between wars that start and end them,

they have all been sandwiched!

About Pax Messianica, here’s ‘The Bible’s endnote’:

By wars it will be sandwiched, and

...the most ever enriched! ⁴

As Sovereign...

God still ordains and calls forth nation paxes,

To subdue peoples and resources alike.

He calls them to serve as His battle-axes! ⁵

They don’t need to know Him. They’re just called

...to strike!
