The concept of Christian salvation is both simple and complex. Ask 10 Christians what it means, and how to be certain when it is attained, and you may get 10+ different answers. Ask how it is attained, many just say two words—by faith. But faith in what or whom? And is it permanent or conditional? Pre-determined for ‘the elect’, or a personal decision we make or ignore? Answers vary widely.
The Bible develops the concept of salvation across both The Old and New Testaments, yet Jesus Himself rarely used the word—though He is called ‘The Author of Salvation.’ It is a vast subject, and not always easy to comprehend or explain.
Think of it like a highway interchange. Many broad, scenic routes seem attractive, but only one narrow way leads straight to eternal life with Jesus Christ. He warned us: Many are called, but few are chosen.
This series shares what I’ve learned by re-reading and studying Scripture with a strategic mindset, shaped by decades in international development planning, management, training and evaluation experience. The Lord instructed me to study this way, and I was surprised at what came into focus. What you’ll read here, and all across Life in the Key of ‘J!’ blog, are simply the results me obeying His call to share.
