Things We've Glamorized (Poem)

We’ve glamorized murder for the sake of making a buck.¹

Then wonder why with so much evil America’s struck!

We’ve glamorized idols in music, dance and the like,²

In this, we have essentially said, ‘God, take a hike!’

We’ve glamorized being very rich in all this world’s wealth,

Concentrating wealth, sacrificing societal health.

We’ve glamorized physical beauty as the ‘ace of spades’.

Then we’re miserably desperate when beauty
quickly fades.

We’ve glamorized power, and lusted after its influence,

Though we stagger under the weight of it’s

corrupt fraudulence.

We’ve glamorized prowess with partiality,

Thus, we pump up people’s prideful pomposity.

We’ve glamorized outstanding athletic abilities,

Knowing short careers often end with long-term injuries.

We’ve glamorized our military’s power and reach,

Though trusting in this opens a spiritual breach.

We’ve glamorized youthfulness, and from this

we’ll not restrain,

While the elderly and their wisdom are

scorned with disdain.

We’ve glamorized ‘PROUD-ly being American’ -- free.

‘At least we know we’re free’,

though PRIDE-fully deceived.³

We’ve glamorized sex, any/all kinds, the whole world over!

And what did we get?!

Nothing we’ve glamorized that’s older.

Will we ever learn the key lessons from human history,

That what nations glamorize …becomes their

downfall misery?

Since nations comprise people who are just like you

and like me.

Nations’ downfalls start with our ‘imaginations we emcee’.⁴

Friends,

The list of things we glamorize is long and getting longer,

While lives of many are getting increasingly gloomier.

Most of what’s glamorized, ends up on a high pedestal,

Much with consequences that are outright unethical.

As you ponder the points this poem signifies,

Check your heart and ask, ‘What do I glamorize?’

¹ Consider the proportion of our entire entertainment industry, on which we all feed, that daily accentuates murder and killing …for audiences of all ages!

² Ever notice the incredible praise, honor, adoration and apparent worship we give to music stars, compared to that which we give to God, who created music to glorify Him, and who created the people to whom He gave musical gifts, people whom we then worship …more than Him.

Waiting (Poem)

Our soul waits for The Lord.

(Psalm 33:20)

Waiting for The Lord. Of life, this is the essence.

In life, there is nothing of greater importance.

From womb-to-tomb, before and after, on Him we wait.

Take time this notion to unpack and investigate.

As our ‘waiting room’, you might say God designed earth.

To Him, waiting for Him enhances our worth.¹

For each life, He has ‘a will and a way’.

Apart from waiting, from this we’ll all stray.

Before our lives, in Him, we wait to be born.

Once born, we wait, full adulthood to adorn.

As adults, we ponder and wait for our days to end,

All the while, wishing we could change this waiting trend!

In death’s sleep, we’ll wait for our great awakening,

Our dark, dusty graves finally abandoning.2

Then we wait for our life’s and works judgment,

Then we’ll receive our final, eternal assignment.

Way back in God’s garden, a Savior God promised to send.³

Mankind and devils alike wondered, ‘What did He intend?’

For centuries, on this Deliverer they waited,

As devils schemed, ‘Is this the one?’ mankind debated.⁴

When He appeared, even He had to wait for

‘His time’ to start,

So He could share with us from the recesses of

Father’s heart.

Once revealed, He waited to be slain as God’s lamb,

So we all could be freed from satan’s sin program.

He promised He would return to complete

redemption’s plan.

Since then, for two thousand years, Christians are

a ‘waiting clan’.

The rest of the world gave up, got tired of

this waiting game,

And now follow devil’s ‘get laid, get over, get rich’ flame.

Along the way, many Christians threw in the towel.

Of living by faith, they’ve become less and less thoughtful.

Pursuing instead this world’s timely, evil pleasures,

In exchange for promises of eternal treasures.

There is real work in hoping, trusting and waiting.

Those promises made long ago are still aging!

Friend, here’s a notion that is worth considering,

With time, things of great value ...are appreciating!

Here’s a thought worth pondering. It’s my affirmation:

‘Appreciating increases appreciation.’

Yep, esteeming enhances value of that which is esteemed.

Esteeming God’s promises means to you,

glory will be streamed.

So why all this waiting? To what are we all being drawn?

It’s right there in black and white, in the book

written by John.

It’s completion of God’s ‘army bride’, a great multitude,

Army of Heaven, bride of His Son, on earth they will rule!⁵

So of waiting if you’ve grown tired and weary,

C’mon! Get on board. You’ll become family.

You’ll receive Grace for the wait, and hope in the finále,

As you learn to wait for and on Jesus Christ …faithfully.

  --The dead in Christ will rise first. This is the first resurrection.

  --The rest of the (unbelieving) dead will not live again (arise and be judged) until the thousand year Millennial Reign of Christ is finished.

Creation, Reversed (Poem)

In six days God created the physical universe.¹

Of creation’s work, mankind was His final adornment.

Is His re-creation work being done now, in reverse?

Let’s ponder this possibility for just a moment.

That He is allowing Creation to atrophy... is clear.

Into a downhill spiral, everything in life has been loosed.

Of this, there’s plenty of evidence on our spinning Earth sphere,

And toward the end, He’ll step in to give atrophy...a boost!

Decaying in the acid-like bath of devils’ and man’s sin,

To Him, all creation moans and groans to be delivered.²

He’s heard the cry, and has begun to change the mess we’re all in.

But this time, a reverse re-creation plan is ordered!

As He ended creation with man, so with man He’ll start.

In fact, this work is NoW! That’s right, it’s already underway!

Begun with Christ’s regeneration of a person’s heart,

It started quite some time ago, and continues till this day.

A re-born human spirit -- this is Stage One, a seed,

A down payment, if you will, to a world anew.³

Though slower, nothing will this re-creation impede!

First man, then creatures, then environment imbued.

The destructive boost to this ole world’s sinful decay,

Will be apocalyptic plagues of God’s wrathful mood.

Learn of them in John’s ‘metaphoric communiqué’,

Perceive how life on planet Earth will become unglued! ⁴

After this, a thousand years of Christ’s reign is appointed.

This is how re-creation’s Stage Two will begin… and end.

With Him will be holy saints who in life were anointed.

His invitation for you to join us, I now extend.⁵

All creatures returned to their ‘first’ minds and their herb diets,

No longer attacking each other or people for meals.⁶

Earth renewed from damage from… apocalyptic faucets,

Before a total, eternal re-creation is revealed.

Stage Two over, devils are loosed, evil to foment.

(Sometime later...)

On re-creation’s stage will unfurl an awesome Stage Three!

After devils’ demise, and the Great White Throne Judgment,

He’ll make a new heavens, eternal Earth, with no more sea! ⁷

In this manner, God will undo ALL that sin did do:

From the lowest-to-the highest aspects of His creation,

From man’s spirit-to-the heavens and Earth, He’ll renew.

And you can be included when you embrace… His salvation~

Post-script:

If Isaiah 65:17 and 66:22 indicate the new heavens and new Earth

were being created then, nearly 700 years before the virgin birth of Jesus,

then they very well might already exist!

Matthew 27:51-53 could be a hint the new Earth is the place

where all 1st and 2nd ages saints, who were

resurrected and raptured worldwide 

when Jesus was raised from the dead, might be now!!
