Heaven Humbles Hegemons

Since the creation and rapid growth of sovereign city sates and nations during the 2nd age of human history, Heaven has been regularly humbling them, especially hegemons—the biggest, ‘badest’ and MOST PROUD ONES that ‘out-grew their britches!’, so to speak. ¹

 

To recognize this doesn’t require any faith in The Bible, though it accurately records and promises a continuation of its ‘humbling practice’. It only takes a basic understanding of history, especially of hegemon history, plus humility to discern and learn from what is palpably apparent. Sadly, those are traits that most of us lack, and that governments shun because of their myopic focus on short-term objectives, plain ole greed and corruption.

 

It is insightful that every AI model recognizes this humbling pattern across history. Yet, even as we increasingly rely on enhanced technologies, no government will likely ever consult them about this pattern, in order to devise strategies to prevent its harsh judgment, and significantly delay its eventual collapse. Governments are not oriented to long-term preservation. Neither do societies today typically correlate the rise and fall of governments and nations, with so-called ‘acts of God!’

 

In the Biblical storyline, every government eventually faces accountability to Heaven, because  all governments are administered by imperfect people who tend to drift over time, toward injustice, pride, and corruption. The Bible clearly portrays Heaven’s judgments, less as rare interruptions, and more as recurring corrections that are built into human history. Its judgments are administered as warnings to, and declines, collapses, and replacements of city-states and nations, many of which act as hegemons to various degrees. To be clear, no polity is exempt from Heaven’s oversight.

 

When governments exert broader influences well beyond their borders, however, Heaven’s scrutiny will eventually intensify. Their powers to influence expand the reach of both their beneficial and harmful actions. With their increasing, external dominance over other nations, Heaven keeps an eye on their ‘expanding moral blast radius’. The Bible reveals the decline and   and eventual collapse of such governments and their nations, are more clearly linked to their arrogant pride, exploitation, and their proliferation of injustices beyond their borders. 

 

In that sense, their expanding, external influences MAGNIFY both their responsibility and the consequences of their external influences on other nations. In the fullness of time, Heaven’s Grace to them expires. Not long afterward, those governments and their nations are judged, and held accountable, relative to the depth and breadth of their abuse of Heaven’s derived power. Let’s never forget this:

Across the 2nd (BC) and 3rd (AD) ages, many city-states and nations have had various levels of influence beyond their borders. Looking back, it is safe to presume Heaven never revoked its policy of scrutinizing and judging governments and their city-states and nations. This seems to be reconfirmed in the list of nations/regimes that have collapsed and/or were replaced since 1900:

Here is a concise list of notable nation-state collapses, regime or state failures and significant fragmentations since 1900 (political dissolution or total governmental replacement — not merely leadership change):

• Ottoman Empire — collapsed 1922 
• Austro-Hungarian Empire — dissolved 1918 
• German Empire (Kaiserreich) — collapsed 1918 
• Russian Empire — collapsed 1917 
• Qing Dynasty / Imperial China — collapsed 1912 
• Weimar Germany/Nazi Germany (Third Reich) — collapsed 1945 
• Imperial Japan — collapsed 1945 (regime transformation under occupation) 
• British Raj (colonial state in India) — ended 1947 
• Kingdom of Yugoslavia/Socialist Yugoslavia — dissolved 1991–1992 
• Czechoslovakia — peacefully dissolved 1993 
• South Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam) — collapsed 1975 
• East Germany (GDR) — dissolved 1990 
• USSR (Soviet Union) — dissolved 1991 
• Somalia central government — state collapse 1991 
• Afghanistan (multiple regime collapses) — 1979, 1992, 2001, 2021 
• Libya central state — effective collapse 2011 

As noted, societies in this modern age generally shun correlating such events as ‘acts of God!’ Thus, they deny the declared Creator of ALL things, ANY AGENCY in the administration of what The Bible declares He created! Imagine that!  

 

Considering the incredibly HIGH levels of both positive and negative hegemony being exercised across our world today, nations seem oblivious to lessons from history, and especially to Heaven’s on-going scrutiny and promised judgments when its Grace to them will expire. As such, it behooves nations today to heed both the patterned echoes of history, and the yet-fulfilled Biblical prophecies about their pending judgment, arrogant pride, and injustices. Without such awareness, and behavioral changes, the question is not whether, but when some of them will join the unenviable parade of collapsed governments and nations. 

Bottom line: The Bible iteratively predicts:

 

(a) All nations will eventually be judged, but all will not collapse (until the end of the 6th age when this current Earth, itself, will be destroyed) ², and 

 

(b) All hegemons that extend their untoward influences across other nations, will eventually tread the same or similar worn path od Heaven’s humbling. This is especially true the predicted, global anti-Christ regime that will dominate the pending 4th age of our history, preceding the reign of Jesus Christ, The Lord God, as Earth’s global king throughout the predicted 5th age of our history—The Millennial Reign age.
