Our 'Longevity Itch'
We have a ‘persistent itch’ that just won’t go away! It is our abiding concern about how long we’ll live, and how we can prolong our time in this earthly life. That ‘itch’ gets stronger with each passing, senior birthday. And it’s ‘off the scale’ with any senior illness. In response, ‘longevity’ has become BIG BUSINESS, producing many meds, health preps and tools, counseling, apps, etc. Science has made great strides in understanding and learning how to tweak the bio mechanics of life. Yet, there are a few critical aspects of longevity that we ignore, sidestep or about which we are largely unaware.
A core one is: Righteousness avails much with The Lord Whose Grace to us is likely the BIGGEST factor in our longevity. Our increasingly sinful lifestyles are very likely the biggest competitor to His Grace, and ergo, to our desire for a long, healthy lifespan. He Who forms us in the womb is the determinant of our life span. Imagine that. Thus, it’s His Grace that we should focus on in response to our ‘longevity itch’. His Bible is chock full of declarations and examples of this fact. As The Sovereign of Creation and Life:
• He pre-determines the sperm that fertilizes our mother’s egg.
• He assigns ability of her womb to host our embryonic development.
• Therein, He endows us with an immortal spirit and soul—the containers in which our personality will develop.
• He orchestrates the development, placement and connections of our every body part.
• He appoints the time and manner of our birth.
Please re-read and note the 3rd point as it is His BEST answer to the longevity itch we all have—an innate desire to live, not just a longer, earthly life, but FOREVER! Here’s the relevant context for that point.
'Tripartite Immortals' and the ‘Second Death’
In the image of The Sovereign Lord and Creator, Adam and Eve were created as tripartite, immortal beings, comprising an immortal spirit, an immortal soul, housed within an immortal body. Their sin in Eden ushered physical death into the human race. It also condemned every human to what Revelation 20:11-15 defines as ‘the second death’.
But wait!!! The Bible affirms death we currently experience is merely bodily death that our immortal parts survive! The second death will be significantly different. It will be an inescapable eternity as resurrected, tripartite, sentient immortals, in a massive, brimstone-lit lake of fire—apart from anything we currently consider as ‘life’. 1 It may be called ‘death’ because it will be eternal separation from The Lord of Life—of EVERYTHING we now consider as life.
His objective is for every human to whom He ordained life in a womb, to stand before Him to be judged for our lifestyles, and to receive either His reward of righteousness, or His sentence of second death—separation from Him forever.
***PLEASE***
Take time to imagine the incredible shock
every deceased person who realized these Bible Truths ...too late,
but you know them NOW,
…before YOU die!
Summary
Friends, THIS is the clear, demonstrated, core message iterated across the pages and ages of The Bible—His Grace warning to anyone who will read, believe and embrace it by faith. Before The Bible was written, He made sure earlier humans had ways to perceive and be informed of His core plan. Most likely rejected it, just as most of us today do the same. That’s evidence of His Grace of free will to believe it …or not.
• The MAJORITY—two-thirds!—of our being is already immortal.
• Our ‘itching’ concern with longevity is inherent—built-in.
• At our conception, The Lord endowed us with eternal life.
• Our immortal parts—spirit and soul—WILL survive our physical death! 2
• The Lord promises to resurrect every deceased body in an immortal form, to be rejoined with its immortal twins, to encounter Him for an assessment of our earthly lifestyle.
• At our conception, Life Initiates (that) Future Encounter—L.I.F.E.
This raises the question,
‘What might happen to the unborn?’
While there is one still-born example in The Bible (David's child by Bathsheba), and countless abortions (mostly the result of extremely violent wars), The Bible does not specifically address this question. By only giving us Heaven’s overarching pattern, it appears to invite us to imagine and perceive how that pattern, and The Lord’s immeasurable GRACE might apply to the unborn. I intuit, in His Sovereign Grace, the spirit and soul He assigned to the unborn, also survive their physical death, and His Grace might reconstitute their physical bodies ‘as they would have been’ had they lived. If so, and as such, every allotted immortal spirit and soul will reunite with its intended, immortal body, and reunited, they will meet our Creator. That’s my application of His revealed patterns.
----------
1 This indicates the second death isn’t death at all, but is a different type of ‘eternal life’ than what we learned about, and it’s in a place that is so much bigger and much worse than hell, because Revelation 20:11-15 predicts both hell and death will also be cast into that forever lake of fire!
2 Why twins? Across The Bible, the terms, spirit and soul, are used interchangeably. They apparently have similar core senses and some similar abilities as the physical body, plus the ability to connect/commune with the spiritual realm. Though the terms are used interchangeably, Hebrews 4:12-13 affirms they are divisible—can be segregated. Though the mechanism is unclear, the assurance is our current immortal twins, will, in one of The Lord’s planned resurrection/rapture experiences for every human, be reconstituted as an immortal triplet, just as Adam and Eve were originally created.
