The Bible repeatedly demonstrates Jesus, The Lord God, is active in the management of human affairs—especially at the level of nations and their leaders. Post-Bible history affirms this point. His apparent objective is to assure people get the leaders they deserve, in accordance with His revealed management pattern:
• Long-term Grace and Mercy (times of testing), and
• Eventual short, intense Judgments for the sake of Justice and Righteousness
(Jeremiah 9:23-24)
His claim and His ancient and current history in doing exactly this, are neither believed or perceived by the majority of us. As a result, we have all suffered great harms for not connecting what we experience, to His dots. Moreover, The Bible attests He won’t change His modus operandi throughout the remaining 3, promised ages of our history on this current version of Earth. Yet we generally pride ourselves as more wise than our distant and recent ancestors.
In Leadership ‘Inversality’ (Poem), I note a repetitive pattern in The Bible, in which nation’s leaders increasingly reflect the revealed and hidden moral inversions of their people. That always resulted in The Lord’s eventual judgments against those leaders and the people they lead. When national morality declines, The Lord allows national leaders to rise who reflect that decline.
Any people who reject disciplined Truths,
will eventually be ruled by undisciplined youths—
not necessarily age-wise, but sage-wise.
In this downward progression, leadership inversality and leadership infantility coalesce, whether:
• Institutionally—infecting core governance entities;
• Politically—distorting core policies and/or political parties; and/or
• Personally—manifesting in national leaders.
The Lord inspired King Solomon to pen these words of wisdom that reflect conditions across the world today:
‘Another evil I have seen under the sun, the kind of mistake rulers make, is that fools are promoted to high positions, while the rich occupy humble places. A fool keeps talking and talking, yet no one knows what the future will bring — Woe to you, land [nation], when your king is a child [childlike national leader], and your leaders start their parties in the morning!’ (Ecclesiastes 10:5, 6, 14, 16)
Ponder this: Today’s leaders might not ‘start parties in the morning’, but one such leader regularly begins public rants and pity parties in the wee hours of the morning, when restful, restorative sleep is needful.
When The Lord promised to divide Israel into 2 nations—Israel and Judah, in response to King Solomon’s sin, He allowed a childlike decision by Solomon’s foolish son, King Rehoboam, to trigger the massive division. (See: 1 Kings 12 and 2 Chronicles 10). Much later, Rehoboam made another poor decision that ended his life. (See: 1 Kings 14)
Centuries later, when The Lord’s Grace and Mercy to the nation of Judah expired, He dispatched the prophet, Isaiah, to convey His final warnings to Jews in Jerusalem and across Judah, of pending Babylonian invasions, unless they repented of their grossly sinful lifestyles. Most stubbornly refused! Thus, He stridently confused and destroyed most of them in Babylon’s 3 sieges! Across the world, and especially in America, some points of His warnings through Isaiah are relevant to us today:
‘I will put children in authority [immature, childlike leaders]; capriciousness will govern them [leadership driven more by impulse and whim, than by disciplined judgment]. My people, your guides lead you astray, and obliterate the paths you should follow.’
(Isaiah 3:4 & 12, CJB)
Ponder this: Across this current, 3rd age, The Lord has remained persistent in this pattern when it has been warranted by any people. Many nations today take great pangs to examine the quality of their prospective leaders. But who takes time to examine the quality of people they have become in the eyes of The Lord?? Yet we balk and complain when leaders vigorously depart from their campaign promises, dishonor their oaths of office, and govern capriciously and vengefully! When will we open our ‘wide shut spiritual eyes’, and ask…
What kind of people has Heaven determined
deserve these kinds of leaders?!
