Freedom of 'Seasoned' Speech (Poem)

Freedom of speech, an intended Grace,

Some governments give to citizens.

But with traps, it is heavily laced,

Turning some folks into …‘shitizens’!

 

You see, with Graces to us given,

We have a natural tendency,

To ‘hog’ it for ‘us, and our chosen’,

And restrict others’ dependency.

Each Grace received is provisional,

With limits on how it’s envisioned.

But human nature, prejudicial,

Works to strip away all provisions!

 

Thus stripped, each Grace becomes a weapon,

That we use de- and offensively’,

To defend our use …sans provisions,

And to clobber others …’fittingly!’

 

Whether from God, given to us all,

Or from governments to citizens,

Each Grace comes with a clarion call:

Recognize, then heed its provisions!

 

Freedom of speech is a civil grace,

Given by governments, not by God!

Surprised? Let’s put ‘free speech’ in its place:

Civil free speech without Love, is flawed!! ¹

 

Graces from God are ‘girded’ in Love:

‘Be quick to hear, but be slow to speak.

Let your tongue be guarded from above.

Season words with Grace-salt’. That means meek. ²

 

Christians, with such Bible tips, AGREE!

But they’re good for ALL who have a tongue!

Hey, ‘Free speech for me, but not for thee’,

Means by satan’s demons, we’ve been stung!!

 

May The Lord unmask all of our hearts,

To see spirits hypocritical,

And double standards that tear apart.

On this, let’s not be …inimical!

View freedom of speech, seasoned with Grace,

As seeds that we all have, and can sow.

On our speech, let’s do an about face,

So among us all, more peace may flow.
