Please, Pray for Me (Poem)

To such a plea, most of us will quickly agree.

But in this, might we miss an opportunity,

To plant, water or give light to a seed,

Whose fruit is about how God meets our need?

What if needs may have a cause-and-effect,

An effect allowed, our heart to inspect?

Otherwise, would God get our attention,

Without those needs for prayer that we mention?

While God’s Love to us is unconditional,

His answers to prayer are quite consequential.

Whether He responds with a frown or a smile,

Is based on His will, His Word...and our life style.

If we delight in Him, He’ll delight in us,

And gladly answer prayers without any fuss.*

To know and confess His Word over our life’s gift

Ensures between Him and us, there will be no rift.

Tithing all our income, even when it’s a challenge?

Interceding for others, their needs to help expunge?

Forgiving offenders, rather than at them lunge?

If so, then....

Into mountains of unmet needs, we will not plunge!

God says fleeing sexual immorality

Helps to ensure our spiritual vitality.

Keeping our conscience clean toward God and mankind,

Helps to keep our life free of all those sins that bind.

You see, my Friend, these things are the fuel of faith.

Count and you’ll get seven. Here is number eight:

In honoring God and man, there are lots of perks.

God calls these things, Love, by which He says our faith works.**

So next time someone asks you for them to pray,

Ask God what Word from-Him-to-them you might say.

But if this very thought makes you want to just play possum,

NO sweat, my Friend.
