Like Parent, Like Child (Poem, Part 1)

Long ago, a couple gave birth to odd twin sons.

Both boys grew to be quite strong and capable.

In some things, the older was skilled, and excelled.

The younger was wise, with cunning inclinations.

Both parents had their favorites. …Impactful!

As children do, both boys grew-up, and rebelled.

 

The mother aided her young son to dissent,

To overshadow his much stronger ‘sibling’.

It worked! The younger son exceeded his brother!

He exceeded the greatness of his parents!!

But soon, to dark cravings, he began to cling.

Can you discern to whom this family refers??

If you guessed it’s Isaac’s family, you are correct!

To a group of nations, this family also refers,

A lesson in history, The Lord intends to share.

As Abraham’s ‘son of promise’, The Lord blessed Isaac.

Isaac and Rebekah had twins—they were very diverse!

In the womb, Esau and Jacob struggled! What a pair!! 

 

As they grew, Isaac preferred Esau, Rebekah Jacob.

Now think: U.K, France, India and pre-America!

The U.K. and France share a maritime border ‘hook-up’! ¹

India was U.K.’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’. ‘Dad’s favor’!

From the U.K., France helped Britain's colonies to break-up!

 

That break-up led to America’s independence,

Nearly 2 centuries before India’s self-rule.

With that lead, the U.S. became the global hegemon.

Replacing, then exceeding its ‘parent’—transcendence! 

Though it’s not an empire, it’s using its parents’ tools!

Now...

To its friends and foes alike, it’s a bully nation!! ²

 

Historically, that’s how hegemon nations abound,

Such continues until The Lord commands it to …‘FALL!!!'

Then it falls, often QUICKLY for the most wicked ones!!

But… ‘the parent’ of America’, is still around!!!

Imagine that, and why…

It played quite a unique role in …‘hegemon protocol’.

So let’s explore some plausible …‘hang around reasons’.

Unique Hegemon Protocol?

¹ In my poetic scenario, this equates to a ‘geographic marriage’ of sorts. ;o) In my scenario, the U.K. and France equate to Isaac and Rebekah, India to Esau, and the U.S. to Jacob, the supplanter.

² The U.S. replaced, then exceeded the (Isaac-like) U.K.. Examples of ‘hegemon bully tools’ the U.S. inherited from the U.K. include: 

◊ Naval supremacy & global basing – Like the Royal Navy once did, the U.S. Navy now ensures global presence, deterrence, and projection.

◊ Economic coercion – U.S.-driven sanctions, reserve currency control, and financial system leverage, all echo UK dominance in the pound-sterling era.

◊ Cultural dominance – The U.K. exported British values, law, language. The U.S. now exports media, ideology, and tech norms.

◊ Intelligence networks – The U.S. leaned heavily on British models post-WWII (e.g., MI6 → CIA). The ‘Five Eyes alliance’ is an echo of Anglo intelligence cooperation.

◊ Legal imperialism – Just as Britain imposed common law and trade rules, the U.S. enforces intellectual property rights, patents, and World Trade Organization norms, all in its favor.
