Q. Do you believe in reincarnation?
A. Indeed I do, but likely not exactly like what you might be thinking. Let me explain.
Reincarnation is defined as a religious or philosophical concept or belief, that the soul or spirit, after biological death, begins a new life, on this current version of Earth, in a new body that may be human, animal or spiritual, depending on the moral quality of the previous life's actions. Thus, this general concept prompts us to consider our immortality.
The Bible iteratively confirms humans are created as tripartite (spirit, soul, body), immortal beings, in the image of Jesus, The Lord God. As a result of sin, our physical bodies now die, but our ‘immortal twins’ live on, forever! The Bible also iteratively confirms every deceased person will be resurrected as ourselves (not another person or animal), an immortal, tripartite being.
The Bible further confirms every human will eventually, in a somewhat complex set of stages, will be raptured onto a new, eternal Earth. (See: Isaiah 65:17, 64:22, and Revelation 21 and 22.) The stated purposes of our resurrection/rapture, are:
a. To give account before Jesus, The Lord God and Creator, for the quality of our life’s experiences on this current Earth, with a specific focus on the nature of our relationship, at death, with Him, and how, in life, that relationship shaped our lives; and
b. To receive His just and due recompences for the verified results of the above review. These principally are:
(i) eternal life with Him in 2 glorious zones (the new Jerusalem and nations surrounding it on His promised new, eternal Earth), with no pain, lack, suffering, sickness or death; or
(ii) eternal torment (fully alive in immortal bodies), cast forever into a promised, brimstone-lit lake of fire, there along with every rebellious fallen angel (demons and devils, including satan), and also death and hell.
That’s the broad outline of what The Bible iteratively promises. For more, search this blog for these terms: resurrection, rapture, eternal Earth, lake of fire, hell and glorious zones.
Bottom line: Yes, I do believe in what might be called ‘Biblical reincarnation’. Anyone who doesn’t so believe, embraces the stated risks. With an estimated 80+% Biblical prophecies-to-historical facts success rate, I choose to avoid that risk, as if my very eternity depends upon it. ;o)
Thanks for this question. I trust my reply is sufficiently clear.
Blessings~
