In their past, present and sadly, future realities,
Communities across the world suffer atrocities,
From such, they hope for relief, and later, they seek justice.
If/when relief and justice are received, they are joyous!
The guilty ‘got what they deserved!’
Let’s segue, if you will, and shift the scene,
And the perspective, with you on the screen,
The guilty one from whom someone seeks relief.
Someone whom you caused considerable grief!
He thinks, ‘You’ll get what you deserve!’
But by some fluke in the system, you ‘got-off scot-free!’
Though you are guilty, now you’re the joyous one, proudly!
Your victim, lacking his sought justice,
Remains aggrieved, distraught and joyless.
You did not ‘get what you deserved!’
Let’s segue, once more, to a higher scene, one from God’s angle.
Focus on His Grace given to you, Grace He hasn’t yet cancelled.
Then examine your responses, and how, to Him, they appear.
To His amazing Grace, you have not tuned your eyes, nor your ears.
He hasn’t ‘gotten what He deserves!’
Can you see our warped, biased perspective,
That is apparently quite pervasive,
On the ‘getting what one deserves’ notion??
It’s prevalent across every nation!
We work to ‘block the bad we deserve!’
Foolishly, our perspectives on this critical matter,
Narrowly focus on this life, not on the ‘here-after’.
Thinking, ‘Grace for me, but not for my enemy’, is cool,
We fail to perceive the flip-side of The Golden Rule.
God says we’ll ‘get what we deserve!’
When we repeatedly abuse God’s Generous Grace Gift,
He’ll begin to apply His Disastrous, Disgrace Downshift.
But like a frog in a pot of cool water, with the heat turned up,
We won’t notice His shift, until our measure of Grace is used up. 1
We’ll get His Justice we deserve!
But wouldn’t it be better to live in His ‘perspective shift’?
Let’s show our appreciation for His amazing Grace gift,
By extending to others, Grace we receive,
So in us, His Golden Rule, they can perceive.
Both sides will get MORE GRACE …He serves. 2
