Rejoicing Is Just Releasing (Poem, Part 1)

When Do You ReJoYce?

Reflect back to your last BIG prayer request,

To which you received an incredible reply.

Recall your joy that could not be suppressed,

And your gratefulness for God’s generous supply!

Now…

Tell me, if joy could be weighed on some kind of scale,

For which of these two things would your joy weigh more:

Things for which you prayed, that are still ‘behind God’s veil’,

Or His answers that’ve ‘washed up on your life’s shore’?

In our wisdom, mankind has found all sorts of ways,

To measure just about everything, seen and unseen.

But of faith, by which God says we should live our days,

Only Jesus gave us insight from which we can glean.

It’s our words and corresponding actions, outside,

That reveal the height, width, weight and diameter,

Of all that we say we really believe, inside.

So let’s consider them as our ‘faithometer’. ¹

All meters have unique units of measurement:

Yards, pounds, watts, minutes, gallons, degrees, kilometers.

Since Jesus spoke both of ‘little’ and ‘great faith’, in amazement,

Then what might serve as units of our faithometer?

To this question, JoY in your spirit is the answer,

That’s deep-rooted Joy, not simply fleeting happiness.

To gage the level of your faith, JoY is the measure.

So let’s ponder the link between faith-and-JoYfulness.

If faith reveals your confidence in God’s promises,

Then your joy unseals your confidence, in exuberance!

JoY counters tendencies to slip into faithlessness,

And perfumes confidence with a spiritual fragrance.

JoY in Christ is the ‘Son-shine’ that disperses,

Every dark, spiritual doubt that annoys.

Moreover, JoY also likely converses,

With angels who, on your behalf, God deploys. ²

Lingering too long in a low or JoYless state,

Will surely make your spirit weak.

It also indicates you’ve swallowed devils’ bait!

So make sure it’s JoY that you seek.

To increase ‘JoY readings’ on your faithometer,

God has said these things we should always do:

His promises confess, sing, share and remember.

As we obey, JoY within will renew.

So back to that incredible reply you grasped,

When your BIG prayer request to God had gotten through.

How would you answer this if The Almighty asked:

‘Why was joy postponed till My answer was in view?’

When in faith your prayer has been received,

ReJoYce when you say, ‘AMEN!’

Make sure it’s to JoY you then stay cleaved,

Not just when answers descend.
