‘Trick-or-treat!’, that ole familiar expression,
That’s heard this
time of year in many nations.
Whether your
beliefs about it are clear or cloudy,
In fact, it all
seems to be about getting candy.
While with time, the
trick part of the deal has
diminished,
The roots of tricks
in our world are now well established.
We all know them
well, the fruits of devilish tricksters!
Their aim is to
ensure in life we’re not the victors.
Daily in news
across our world we read of their fruits,
Yet still we refuse
to recognize their unseen roots.
We see and know those
who’re trapped in
devils’ lying tricks,
Folk who then treat
the rest of us with wicked antics.
Tricked for wicked treats, yep, it is the same ole game.
But there’s a way
to extinguish this hellish flame.
Jesus said know
Truth, and from tricky lies, be free.
Yet dressed up lies
are appealing to you and me.
Here is a question
that to you I submit;
Ask yourself, ‘Which comes first, Truth or counterfeit?’
Since the answer is
so clearly obvious,
For us, why is
knowing Truth so arduous??
Imagine, with a
time stamp each has come.
That way any
counterfeit appears… dumb.
So date God’s Word
next to devils’ lies on you splashed.
Then would you
still fall for their counterfeits, rehashed?
Since in search for
hope we fall for lying façades,
Here is a good way
to expose devilish frauds.
Ask yourself, ‘Which comes first, false hope or
hope that satisfies?’
Please note: As Truth precedes counterfeits,
true
hope follows lies.1
Friends, the
answers to these two questions pivotal,
Should help you
avoid circumstances pitiful.
The Truth of God’s
Word predates and trumps satan’s lies,
And God’s Word
affirms only His hope satisfies.
While at Halloween,
kids may ring bells for trick or treat,
Daily, devils ring
our bells with their… trick for
defeat!
So you’re not
tricked, ensure God’s Truth is your daily meat.
Then both your feet
will remain on paths that God calls… sweet.2

1 False hopes always precede the final hope that both satisfies and then puts and end to the issue.
2 Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me
Your paths. Lead me in Your Truth and teach me, for You are the God
of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. Good and
upright is the Lord; therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The
humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. All the paths
of the Lord are Mercy and Truth, to such as keep His covenant
and His testimonies. Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him
shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself shall dwell in
prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth. The secret of
the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His
covenant. My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He shall pluck
my feet out of the [lying
trickster’s/deceiver’s] net. (Psalm
25, excerpts)
