Go ahead, America! Be as bad as we are fat.
Go ahead heaping up wickedness upon wickedness,
And let’s see just how evil we can get.
Repentance is a word seemingly struck from our books,
But finding new ways to murder, lie and steal?
So many innovations in becoming a crook.
Like an ostrich with her head stuck in the sand,
We pretend there’s no God who will bring us to book!
Men-with-men, women-with-women, divorce running amok.
Kids murdering kids, our economy on the skids.
It all reminds me of some stories in the Holy Book.
God told Abraham, “Your children will be in bondage 400 years
Because the cup of iniquity of the Amorites is not yet filled”.
He told Haggai, “Pass a message and say to your friends,
‘Consider, consider your ways that are hastening you to your end!”
He told Abraham if but 10 righteous were found just like Noah,
He’d spare the twin evil cities of Sodom and Gomorrah!
There comes a point, America, this you should know,
When the wrath of God’s judgment must fall, blow-upon-blow.
God told Ezekiel when a land consistently sins,
There comes a threshold that’s crossed, and then,
No matter how many righteous are found therein,
War, famine, pestilence and wild beasts are just around the bend. *
We, the righteous, are promised protection and provision,
While the wicked fall by the thousands under His supervision.
So go on, America, go ahead 'with yo bad self!'
The whole world is watching, but is equally deaf –
Deaf to calls to repentance, forsaking sinful whims.
Lord help us now, even as our cup of iniquity is ...spilling its rim!

ReplyDeleteThis is true...up to a point. See Ezekiel 14:13 - to the end of the chapter. Remember, Lot probably did what God later told Solomon, yet at the appointed time, judgment fell...

ReplyDeleteSince this was published, Zakari, do you notice a difference? Seems much worse to me, pretty much everywhere! Now, in late 2014, the world is transiting a tetra of blood moons -- two down in 2014, and two scheduled in 2015, inter-dispersed with a full and partial solar eclipse. A major change of some sort is 'in the air'. According to Genesis 1:14, I wonder what these rare signs portend. Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
DeleteI feel not much has changed since bible days. We are more aware of the sins of man. Because of satellite and other means of reporting, the world seems closer. We can not look in the eyes of man while he kills, robs, beats up, cheats on his fellow man. God's time of judgment IS closer than we realize. As Christians our role is to fast, pray and trust the God we serve. All will never be right with the world but as we trust HIM things will be right within our world.

Many believe we may be immuned from God's judgment because America has far more righteous people than the 10 God was looking for in Sodom and Gemorrah. They forget about Daniel and his colleagues, and the hoards of others who were taken into captivity in Babylon and Assyria. The Lord knows both how and whom to protect from impending judgment.
DeleteWe who are walking in the light must intercede for our brothers and sisters who are still walking in darkness. They are insane! What human being in their right mind would willfully choose death over life? Curses over blessings? Praise God by His great mercy and grace we have been saved from the wrath to come.....if we are children of light let us walk circumspectly less we cause our brothers and sisters to stumble. How great a tiny little light can overcome the darkness.
ReplyDeleteAmen, and AMEN, Linda. Ever notice, there is no such thing as a darkness switch? It only takes shutting off or turning down the LIGHT for darkness to win. May we, the worldwide Church, awake from our partial slumber and shine ever more brightly in these dark days.
